OpenAI Expands Affordable ChatGPT Go Plan to 16 More Asian Countries

OpenAI has expanded access to its low-cost ChatGPT Go plan, now available in 16 additional countries across Asia, according to an announcement by company executive Nick Turley.

The expansion reflects OpenAI’s effort to make its technology more affordable and widely accessible. Turley previously mentioned that affordability had been one of the most requested features from users.

ChatGPT Go was initially launched in India and Indonesia earlier this year. Now the rollout includes users in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam, bringing the total to 18 Asian countries.

The plan gives subscribers access to OpenAI’s latest GPT-5 model and offers all features available in the free version, plus extras such as image generation, file uploads, advanced data analysis, and higher usage limits.

In India and Indonesia, ChatGPT Go costs around $4.50 per month, significantly lower than the company’s other paid options: ChatGPT Plus at $20 per month, ChatGPT Pro at $200, and a business plan at $25. Prices in other markets may vary slightly.

OpenAI says the expansion is part of its mission to make advanced AI tools more accessible globally, especially in lower-income regions. Adoption rates in these areas have reportedly been over four times faster than in wealthier nations as of May 2025.

For now, users in countries like Cambodia, Laos, and Nepal can subscribe through the web and Android versions, while iOS access is still pending.
