Google is testing a new look for its Gemini AI app that could transform how users interact with it. Instead of the current plain chatbot interface, the update may introduce a scrollable, image-rich feed featuring creative prompts and visuals, making the experience more engaging and inspiring.
According to early findings from reverse engineering, the redesigned layout places key options like “Create Image” and “Deep Research” at the top of the screen. Below them, users would find visually appealing suggestions such as “Teleport me to deep space” or “Turn my drawing into a storybook,” each displayed with colorful backgrounds or images.
The goal of the redesign is to make Gemini more interactive and visually dynamic, encouraging users to experiment with AI features rather than facing an empty chat window. Although Google has not officially announced the update, early tests suggest a focus on creativity, simplicity, and accessibility.
If released publicly, the revamp could position Gemini as a stronger rival to OpenAI’s ChatGPT app, which still uses a minimalist interface. It could also build on the recent popularity of Google’s Nano Banana image model, which helped Gemini briefly reach the No. 1 spot on the App Store in September.
